IMSERV – Scotland businesses to benefit from expanded energy service

Businesses across Scotland will have access to expanded energy data, metering and engineering services following an acquisition that strengthens a utilities specialist’s presence across the country.

IMSERV has completed a purchase for SP Dataserve, the commercial metering and data services business previously associated with ScottishPower.

The move strengthens IMSERV’s Scottish presence while bringing additional investment, technical expertise and new service capabilities to customers across the region.

Over the coming months, IMSERV will integrate the SP Dataserve business into the IMSERV group, with East Kilbride becoming a key hub for the company’s Scottish operations.

Customers will continue working with the same trusted local teams, while gaining access to broader services including advanced data visibility, sub-metering, specialist engineering support and additional gas metering capabilities.

The Scottish operation already supports a significant customer base across the country, including 66 per cent of Scottish councils, more than 100 windfarms, seven universities and 76 multi-site customers operating more than 10 locations.

Jo Cox, CEO of IMSERV, said: “Our investment in Scotland is about bringing wider capabilities and deeper support to customers, while keeping the experienced local teams and relationships that customers already value.

“IMSERV will bring a wealth of experience in services such as sub-metering, best in class operations and a highly trained technical field team.

“We have also been developing a leading data platform which will give customers far greater visibility of their energy data and assets.”

IMSERV said Scotland customers would benefit from improved access to specialist metering expertise and operational support as businesses prepare for Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS), one of the energy sector’s biggest upcoming industry changes.

The expanded Scottish operation will also strengthen support for sectors including manufacturing, local government, retail, hospitality and renewable energy projects across the region.

The combined Scottish team brings 817 years of industry experience into IMSERV, with an average of 25 years’ experience per employee across the business.

“The SP Dataserve team brings highly skilled operational and engineering expertise into the IMSERV business, helping us continue our focus on asset management and data accuracy, both of which are critical as customers prepare for MHHS.

“This is about building a stronger and broader business in Scotland that gives customers access to more services, more expertise and greater support for the future.”

The business said the move would allow Scottish customers to access additional products and services not previously available through SP Dataserve, including IMSERV’s AstralTech data platform and expanded metering solutions.
